Instow

Instow is an exquisite village situated on the banks of the river Torridge where it converges with the Taw estuary as the sea laps over the golden sand you can’t help but feel a sense of peace and tranquillity. This large sandy beach is enveloped by uninterrupted views all around and is a haven for many dog walkers, families and sailors.

Green pastures and open countryside sit above this little village and there is nothing better than walking through the fields and looking down and out to sea taking in the breath taking panoramic vista. Such extensive views take you down river towards Bideford, across to the fishing village of Appledore with its brightly coloured houses and out towards Crow Point and beyond.

During Summer Instow offers an almost Mediterranean aura with its white houses, hotel and bars, its large expanse of golden sand and its wonderful maze of Dunes. With the boats bobbing up and down on the river and the sun glistening upon the water you are taken in by the sheer beauty of what nature has given us.

Home to the famous yacht club and with the original signal box from the old railway on the Tarka Trail there are many features to remind us of the past and as a place to visit and photograph Instow has it all. It has the sea, countryside and picturesque views. As a photographer I am spoilt for choice is it going to be the early morning sunrise, the evening sunset or that panoramic view across to Appledore or just a visit to remember?.
